Recent, Vigorous Exercise Is Associated With Reduced Breast Cancer Risk

ScienceDaily (Oct. 1, 2009) — Post-menopausal women who engage in moderate to vigorous exercise have a reduced risk of breast cancer. This comes from researchers writing the open access journal BMC Cancer who investigated the link between breast cancer and exercise.

“With an estimated 182,460 new cases diagnosed in the United States in 2008, breast cancer is recognized as the most common cancer affecting U.S. women,” says Dr. Tricia M Peters from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, who headed up an international team of researchers. Vigorous exercise has been hypothesized to reduce cancer risk for some time. However, this new study is one of the first prospective investigations to look at the importance of various intensities of exercise at different stages in an individual’s life.

Over 110,000 post menopausal women were asked to rate their level of physical activity at ages 15-18, 19-29, 35-39, and in the past 10 years. It was found, over 6.6 years of follow up, that women who engaged in more than 7 hours per week of moderate-to-vigorous exercise for the last ten years were 16% less likely to develop breast cancer than those who were inactive. However, no link was observed between breast cancer risk and physical activity in women who were active at a younger age.

Cytori Therapeutics, Tissue Genesis, Thermogenesis, Stem Cell Therapies, Branding, And Joining Forces

Stem cell therapy is quietly entering areas where it provides improved or alternative therapeutic results. Cytori is showing continually improved study and anecdotal results in breast reconstruction with adipose stem cells, a result which implicitly includes the creation of new blood vessels. If positive results continue, breast reconstruction is going to be an excellent market for Cytori, one already generating the lion’s share of its current revenues, and one in which it is clearly establishing a leadership position.

Eli Lilly is now the sole manufacturer of rBGH — the artificial growth hormone given to dairy cows that increases people’s risk of cancer. Eli Lilly also manufactures breast cancer treatment medications and a pill that “reduces the risk” of breast cancer. Eli Lilly is milking cancer. Tell them to stop making rBGH.

GENova Biotherapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB: GVBP | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) up 17.8% on 39 million shares traded.

breast reconstructionOn Sept 10, 2009 GENova Biotherapeutics, Inc. a biotechnology company that identifies, acquires, and develops novel drug targets that disrupt the advance of life-threatening diseases, recently announced it has filed a patent for a potential blockbuster drug target that combats breast cancer. The target, Tetanolic acid, is a tailor-made lipid which induces cell death in breast cancer cells, thus curtailing development of the harmful cancer.

This novel approach – using proteins to stop cancer – is based on recent discoveries that indicate that most tumors are derived from a cancer stem cell. The technology behind Tetanolic acid involved identifying specific characteristics of these cancer stem cells and then tailoring a lipid (Tetanolic acid) that can identify these characteristics and then attack the malignant cells whilst leaving healthy cells intact. This tailor-made cancer treatment strategy is far superior to any existing therapies, as it terminates the cancer at the source, with no side effects, and no harm to surrounding healthy tissues.

“This target has tremendous market potential, as it can ultimately eliminate the need for surgery and chemotherapy,” says Aaron Whiteman for GENova.

Worldwide, breast cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death, and is the most common cancer (and cause of cancer death) in women. The demand for new and better treatments for the disease is as urgent as ever.

No more drive-through mastectomies!

Proposed Mastectomy Law Change
(written by a surgeon)

I’ll never forget the look in my patients eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies.

So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn’t grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet ‘Thank you’ they muttered.

A mastectomy is when a woman’s breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let’s give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

This Mastectomy Bill is in Congress now. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it really quick! The Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill is important legislation for all women.

Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you’re receiving this, it’s because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same.

There’s a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It’s about eliminating the ‘drive-through mastectomy’ where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support.. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name and zip code number.

This takes about 2 seconds. PLEASE PASS THIS ON to your 20 friends.

Adult Stem Cell Research Helps Breast Reconstruction After Lumpectomy

Stem Cell Research Provides Help for Breast Reconstruction

Irene MacKenzie had a lumpectomy for her early stage breast cancer leaving her with a hollow in her breast. The lumpectomy took care of the cancer, but what about her breast? Well, Irene was the first person in Britain to reap the benefits of Stem Cell research using Adult Stem Cells for breast reconstruction.

Feeling Self-Conscious After the Lumpectomy

After the lumpectomy, Irene didn’t feel good about the way her breast looked. She looked for options. A friend referred her to Eva Weiler-Mithoff who is a consultant plastic surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Dr. Weiler-Mithoff who had been approached with a new Adult Stem Cell process asked if Irene would be interested in becoming the first woman in Britain to receive this new stem cell treatment for breasts. Irene didn’t hesitate and said “YES!”

Process of Stem Cells for the Breast

  1. Approximately one pint of fat extracted via liposuction from her stomach.
  2. Half the fat was put aside.  Adult Stem Cells were extracted from the other half of fat.
  3. The Adult Stem Cells were then mixed with the first half of fat.
  4. The Stem Cell mix was injected into the hollow in her breast.
  5. 3 months later- the stem cell therapy treated breast looked and felt like a normal breast

Up until now, the only option has been to  fill the hollow with the liposuctioned fat (without adding the Adult Stem Cells).  The Adult Stem Cells create new blood vessels thus giving the newly added fat some blood supply so it does not die.

11 Breast Patients Treated With Stem Cell Therapy So Far

Dr. Weiler-Mithoff says that they have treated 11 patients so far in this stem cell clinical trial, but that she is very pleased with the results so far.

From the stem cell article:

This stem-cell enriched fat also seems to restore the softness of the breast tissues. It almost uncrumples the skin, undoing some of the radiotherapy damage, and women are reporting that their pain has eased, too – possibly because it makes the skin more supple.

I feel this technique will have a significant impact on breast reconstruction. Patients don’t need a big operation and there are no scars.

I recently covered a similar story approximately a month ago about this breast reconstruction in Britain although that story focused more on how this exact same procedure could be used for breast enlargement.

Also, doctors have been doing this in Japan for over 6 years now at the Seishin Cosmetic Clinic with an  80% satisfaction rate.

Similar Stem Cell Research for Face Lifts

Also, last week, I covered a company in China that is using this same technique of getting Adult Stem Cells from the fat and then injecting them into the face as an alternative to a facelift.

Letters from Laura #1 – Autism, GI issues, chronic ear infections, breast cancer and Jenny McCarthy

In ALL ARTICLES, Letters from Laura on April 3, 2009 at 7:52 pm

Dear David-

Two years ago, my son was 16 months old and having terrible GI issues and chronic ear infections. He only slept through the night 4 times. We had him vaccinated for his MMR and immediately following he was losing his speech. We took him to docs who told us to put him on a white flour diet, handed us lots of allergy drug samples, and told us to get tubes in his ears. i was so frustrated.

one day, my daughter put a puzzle piece into my laptop and it got stuck. My husband ran it over to a computer place for me, and had our son Walker. A man there was looking at Walker and began asking my husband questions….was he drinking milk, how was his speech, etc. He (Stan Kurtz) introduced my husband to his 5 year old very healthy son, and told him his son was diagnosed with autism at age 2 and severe autism at age 3. They said he would never be a functioning child.

Stan did research and then changed his sons diet, put him on anti-fungal medication and Valtrex (they say that autism is a combination of infections, viruses, metal toxicity and intestinal fungus.) I called him the next day and he spent 90 minutes on the phone with me. He shared with me what he fed his son. He never asked for anything, offered no controversial drugs, and suggested I get a pure form of Vitamin B12 called Methylcobalamin and get him started on that.

That day we started the diet (no wheat, grain, dairy, sugar) and that night my son slept through the night. The next night the same, and on Sunday, he began speaking. We went to an autism doc and started the B12 shots and his vocabulary tripled. His GI issues went away. He has never had an ear infection since. Now we keep him on this diet and it’s been over 2 years. His teachers have no idea there was ever an issue and he speaks like a 6 year old!

Stan works with over 2K families and started a school.  He also helped with the recovery of Jenny McCarthy’s son. i was talking to him one day and he asked about my health. He asked if i had any sisters or any history of breast cancer. I said no. He said that with all the families that he sees, there is an unusually high incidence of breast cancer, and the thought amongst docs is that the fungal issues contribute to breast cancer. The fungus tends to be the glue that holds cancer cells together.

Three weeks later, i was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I went through all the treatments, and I am doing great.  Stan has us all on a real detox program and we all follow the diet.

The reason I bring this long story up to you, is that there are thousands of families who are treating their children for autism with great results and you hear nothing about it. Jenny said she was expecting teams of medical doctors to bust down her door asking how she recovered her child from severe autism. Not one call.

Stem cell therapy ‘could offer women natural breast enhancement from stomach fat’ – Telegraph

Stem cell therapy ‘could offer women natural breast enhancement from stomach fat’.  Women could be offered natural breast enhancements under a stem cell therapy now being developed.

By Aislinn Simpson

Last Updated: 5:06PM BST 29 Mar 2009

The treatment implants stem cells taken from spare fat on the stomach or thighs and implanted into a woman’s chest.

At present, its focus is on providing breast cancer sufferers who have undergone full or partial mastectomies with an alternative to implants.

But if successful, it could also vastly improve the outcome of cosmetic breast enhancements.
