I signed up on AlphaInventions a year ago.  It is a very cool site that lets you see a streaming blog roll in the area of your interest.  Check it out!  http://alphainventions.com It’s one of those hot growing sites that you wish you knew about!

On my best traffic day, when I was typically bringing in traffic in the 1k to 2k range, I had 7,000 visits in one day…reached in part due to the technology made available by alphainventions.  It’s not google level numbers but it sure got my eyes open! As time went on, I became involved in different projects and methods for generating qualified traffic.  So….a year later, what will happen if I post an alpha inventions article?  Will I get my typical 5k per day or will I get 5k + 7k?  Hmmm…..

And btw, this is from my original post on a new category called “Off The Beaten Path”…a section of The Stem Cell Blog where non stem cell related posts will go…a place to let my hair down and recognize that maybe, just maybe…You may think of it as the mutant half child of Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” and Monty Python’s “and now for something completely different!”

“all stem cells and no play” makes David a dull boy.

Enjoy!

Lisa Ray finds strength in blogging about cancer

Slideshow image

Canadian actor Lisa Ray appears on CTV’s Canada AM from downtown Toronto during the Toronto International Film Festival, Monday, Sept. 14, 2009.

…”We’re very close to, if not a cure, at least prolonging life. It’s all about bringing in the new sort of cocktail of drugs, and stem cell research. It’s amazing how much has happened.”

Her blog suggests her treatments are working, with her doctors writing to her to tell her test results show she is moving toward remission. Healing is what Lisa Ray is now focusing on.

“It’s so simple to illuminate the reality of living and healing a long term illness,” she writes, “We just have to talk. Openly.”

AUTISM & A MOTHER’S ORDEAL post consists of

AUTISM AWARENESS

AUTISM AWARENESS

The following are paraphrased excerpts from a conversation with a woman who is desperately trying to find treatments for her son who has Autism. All she has received in response to her inquiries to date…is abuse.

“My husband and I are trying to raise money to send our son, Niko for Adult stem cell treatment.  Wow, we are finding it is like running on sand and people are so cruel.  Our son is Autistic.  I wish people were more educated on the subject before they crucified us!  Does anyone have any suggestions to take it to the next level?  We would love your opinion!  Anything that will help would be welcome!”

I introduced her to the Repair Stem Cell Institute which is a patient advocate education center that connects patients with adult stem cell treatment centers around the world.  They know of a treatment center which both treats AUTISM and also meets the standards of the Repair Stem Cell Institute: http://www.repairstemcells.org/TreatmentDetail.php?keyword=AUTISM

http://repairstemcells.org

Her response is indicative of what I believe a lot of people are going through right now when they are looking for new treatments to old diseases.

“I will look into this, Thank you! Your email is the first kind email we have received! Thank you for the links! I will join the repair stem cell group right away. We are not going to give up! We have no other option but to fight on! We had to stop the email responses on Niko’s blog, they were just too much for me to handle. Looking forward to keeping in touch with you! Blessings!”

Why are people so resistant to the benefits of RSC?  I find it terribly sad that in all of her research and correspondence, my email was the first kind one she received.  I can only imagine the ordeal of being a struggling parent seeking help for a sick child met on all sides by both adamant opponents of embryonic stem cells and adamant opponents of repair stem cells.  The world must seem a very cruel and cold place.

I wish the best for Niko and his parents.  I hope my recommendations are helpful to them and they are able to gain the relief from the symptoms of Niko’s Autism that they are striving so hard to find.

All my best-

David

Repair Stem cell transplants help MS victims

In ALL ARTICLES, VICTORIES & SUCCESS STORIES on February 8, 2009 at 1:07 am

Multiple Sclerosis Affect on Myelin Shaeth

By Agency Reporter -Published: Sunday, 8 Feb 2009

Stem cell transplantation seems to stop and, in some cases, undo neurological damage in people with multiple sclerosis, a small study shows.

The trial involved just 21 patients, but a larger, randomized trial is under way in the United States, Canada and Brazil.

”This is the first trial for any phase of MS, whether early or later, of any therapy anywhere that has shown reversal of neurological disability,” said study author Dr. Richard K. Burt, chief of the division of immunotherapy at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.

MS is a disease in which the immune system turns on the body and attacks myelin, the protective covering on nerve cells. The disease usually starts with a ”relapse-remitting” phase, with alternating periods of flare-ups of symptoms and relatively peaceful spans. After a decade or so, however, most patients move into the more severe, secondary-progressive form of the disease.

”There is a need to find a means by which we can control the progression of MS, particularly in these patients who are not responding to FDA-approved therapies,” said Patricia O‘Looney, vice president of biomedical research at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Treatments are clustered toward the relapse-remitting stage, with little available for the latter stage. ”Generally, when you get to late progressive MS, nothing really works,” Burt said.

The technique used in this study, autologous non-myeloablative hemopoietic stem cell transplantation, ”resets” the immune system and is already used for secondary-progressive MS.
