STEM CELLS FIX HEART 5 YEARS AGO

In VICTORIES & SUCCESS STORIES on November 17, 2013 at 9:18 am

AN UPDATE ON JAMES 11/17/2013

“i have been doing manual labor with my dads company the heart is doing well im getting in better shape every week.

im to the piont now i can carry 5 gallon buckets of concrete up hills lol, pretty cool still
in a few days it will be my 6 year anniversary and still no reversion!!”
success

2006

Case Study: James Eilert, 34 years old, presents with a “widowmaker” [100 % blockage of the left ascending coronary artery]. His ejection fraction (EF – volume of blood his heart pumps out) was between 20 and 25 percent (55 is normal). His cardiologist told him he has about 5 years left to live.  James left the country in order to receive Adult Stem Cell treatment.

1 1/2 weeks after treatment – Echocardiogram revealed that his completely dead apex was beating again.

6 months after treatment – Sidewalls of heart beat normally.  Septum went from 100% damage to 30% damage. Cardiologist confirms James’ heart is 50 percent more elastic than the year before Repair Stem Cell therapy.

6 – 9 months after treatment – James’ total dead heart tissue is down to about 10%.  EF is up to 50%!

4 years later – James’ heart and health continue to improve. He continues to push himself and his limits.  He runs regularly, works 7 days a week and can bike 20 miles .

Summation:

James went from Class III congestive heart failure to Class I with an ejection fraction (EF) increase from ~20-25% to his current EF of 50%.  His doctors have lifted all restrictions and limitations on his physical activities.

James is only one of many adult stem cell treatment success stories…

November 17, 2011 Update:

A letter from James.  How is he doing today?

“its amazing how fast reality can change, the differences that you see in others that they dont notice themselves. the changes in attitudes and perceptions that the “new” was never in doubt and is accepted as if it were always true. the new studies showing the truth about adult stem cell heart treatments the last few months have proven that we the few pioneers that have made huge financial sacrifices to try and save our lives were not crazy, stupid or otherwise deluded!

it was a risk and for the last four years despite proving over and over by running uphill on so many treadmills my improvments were basically ignored by cardiologists, general practitioners, and even my own wife and stepdaughters.

that i am happy to say has changed!!!!

i went to see my doctor yesterday, he told me to start heavy weight training and interval running, to help me lose weight better. what was differnet? nobody has told me to do that since my heart attack, there was no mention of taking it easy, in fact before i was told to only do light weights and take it easy, watch my heart rate, dont push past 150bpm ever.

it was like i never even had a heart attack.

i asked in disbelief if i should watch my heart rate, keep it a safe zone. the answer “no, stick to 85 to 90 percent and youll be fine, your exercise scores and echos show you can handle it”

vindication, no longer an unexplained anamoly, just a patient that responded better than average to a new treatment – like it was always true in thier minds, never a doubt.

what a feeling!! it has taken ten years to go from the “fringe” to the mainstream - i look forward to getting treatments here in america, and i’m so happy i took the risk that now ensures i will be alive to reap the benifits when it becomes available here!

have a good day david – it nice to be right once in a while!
jim eilert

Congratulations as always Jim!  On your heart recovery success and on having the courage to be a pioneer with an adult stem cell treatment that was cutting edge around the world 5 years ago and is still barely know today in the USA! – David

Stem cell scarring aids recovery from spinal cord injury

Stem Cell Scarring Aids Recovery from Spinal Cord Injury

Oct. 31, 2013 — In a new study, researchers at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden show that the scar tissue formed by stem cells after a spinal cord injury does not impair recovery; in fact, stem cell scarring confines the damage. The findings, which are published in the scientific journal Science, indicate that scar tissue prevents the lesion from expanding and helps injured nerve cells survive…

Stem Cells Improve Cognition After Brain Injury

Research led by Charles Cox at the University of Texas Health Science Center has shown that stem cell therapy given during the critical time window after traumatic brain injury promotes lasting cognitive improvement. These experiments, which were published in the latest issue of the journal Stem Cells Translational Medicine, provide a pre-clinical model for experiments with larger animals.

After the brain has suffered a traumatic injury, there are few treatment options. Damage to the brain can be severe, and can also cause ongoing neurological impairment. Approximately half of all patients with severe head injuries need surgery to remove or repair ruptured blood vessels or bruised brain tissue.

In this work from Cox’s lab, stem cells from bone marrow known as multipotent adult progenitor cells (MAPCs) were used. MAPCs seem to be a subpopulation of mesenchymal stem cells, and they have a documented ability to reduce inflammation in mice immediately after traumatic brain injury. Unfortunately, no one has measured the ability of MAPCs to improve the condition of the brain over time.

Cox, Distinguished Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the UTHealth Medical School and in collaboration with the Children’s Fund, Inc., injected two groups of brain-injured mice with MAPCs two hours after injury and then once again 24 hours later. One group received a dose of 2 million cells per kilogram and the other a dose five times greater.

After four months, those mice that had received the stronger dose not only continued to have less inflammation, but they also showed significant gains in cognitive function. Laboratory examination of the brains of these rodents confirmed that those that had received the higher dose of MAPCs had better brain function than those that had received the lower dose.

According to Cox, “Based on our data, we saw improved spatial learning, improved motor deficits and fewer active antibodies in the mice that were given the stronger concentration of MAPCs.” Cox also indicated that this study indicates that intravenous injection of MAPCs might very well become a viable treatment for people with traumatic brain injury in the future.

I’m perplexed by an apparent dichotomy…

people who are staunch supporters of education and awareness whom are so set in their convictions they are unwilling to hear any thoughts but their own, unwilling to educate themselves on things they are wholly ignorant on, unwilling to budge or even have a calm, civil, open discussions on topics. Not argument, not debate, a friendly discussion whereby 2 people put their heads together to better understand each other and the world around them.

I invite everyone to have this type of discussion with each other and with me because I know I don’t know everything and the only way to learn is to keep your own damn mouth shut for a hot second and give your own damn opinion a rest for a second. The full glass can take no more water. Empty your mind to take on more.  that’s the only way it works.

CHILD RECEIVES NEW STEM CELL TRACHEA

In ALL ARTICLES, STEM CELLS IN THE NEWS, VICTORIES & SUCCESS STORIES on April 30, 2013 at 2:44 pm
ht_ciaran_finn_lynch_trachea_transplant_ll_120725_wg

Two years ago, 11 year old Ciaran Finn-Lynch, became the world’s first child to receive new trachea.  Scientists/doctors used the child’s own stem cells to rebuild the airway in his body.  This is the really cool stuff because the public can wrap their heads around it and see a trachea in a dish, a nose growing on an arm, etc.  The next step in evolution of the public consciousness is to get them to understand…we can regrow and heal the organs which are already present in their own bodies, already damaged and in need of fixing…with stem cells from their own body.  I think this will be difficult as the home owner with the means will almost always go to the outside plumber or the super store and get a new piece of equipment to replace the old rather than pick up a wrench and fix what they have already.  Another byproduct of the disposable society we live in.  Homes, cars, washing machines and now organs are believed to have a limited life span.  When it breaks, just buy a new one.  - DG

AUTISM SPECTRUM, TREATMENTS AND CURES(?)

In ALL ARTICLES, OFF THE BEATEN PATH on April 30, 2013 at 10:13 am

autism-not-a-disease

What is the Autism Spectrum? What does it mean to Treat? Does treat mean Cure?

Let’s be clear, as clear as we can. Nothing applies to all but we speak of an autistic spectrum, a gross lumping together of many different variations.

“A spectrum (plural spectra or spectrums[1]) is a condition that is not limited to a specific set of values but can vary infinitely within a continuum…the autism spectrum. In these uses, values within a spectrum may not be associated with precisely quantifiable numbers or definitions. Such uses imply a broad range of conditions or behaviors grouped together and studied under a single title for ease of discussion.”

We use spectrum because it’s easier to do so and because we don’t have 100 different, perfectly defined types of Autism in the spectrum. We don’t have: “Jimmy Jones presents with ADS#72″ and even if we did, it would probably look more like, “Jimmy Jones presents with ADS72 with non-specific characteristics of ADS34 and a dash of ADS9.” We are limited in that we have a spectrum, an umbrella of sorts with perhaps more dissimilarities than similarities between those on it but it’s the umbrella we have so let’s use it because it allows us to move forward on the discourse.

As for the term treat   and what I “mean” by it, now we are getting into strictly defined   terms.  Treat means:
1. To give medical aid to someone.
2. To give medical aid to counteract a disease or   condition.

Treat does not mean cure. .  Likewise, recovery does not mean remission. Asymptomatic does not mean therapeutic benefit.  A treatment, when applied to different people with the same condition or different people on a spectrum, may result in dissimilar responses or results. Some may recover, some may become asymptomatic, some may derive significant therapeutic benefit, some may derive lesser benefits and some may have no significant response to a treatment and some may have limited quantifiable change yet huge quality of life improvement.  I wish there were guarantees on treatments but there are not.

In addition, there are many different kinds of treatments stemming from different schools of thought on cause, affect, symptom alleviation, etc.  There is HBOC, MSC, Chelation Therapy, Nutritional Intervention, Gut Bacteria Proliferation, etc. and many studies showing their safety and efficacy and many swear by them.  Some of these treatments or therapies or interventions have worked for some on the spectrum and because it’s a spectrum, may not work on others. But we educate ourselves to what’s available and the new studies and advancements.

So, here are a few articles. Some will be relevant to your inquiries, some will not. I hope they are helpful and enlightening.  And this is not the sum total of the information out there, just a broad brush stroke collection.   I’ll keep looking and I’ll try to gather some more over the next few days to create a more comprehensive… spectrum…of data and information:  AUTISM AND STEM CELL TREATMENTS

———————————————————————-

I’ll leave you with this one last thought.  I used the image at the top for a reason.  It is something I’ve been wrestling with quite a lot lately.  Is Autism an identity or a disability?  Should we search for a cure or try to understand it.  I wrote an article on the subject early this month - AUTISM: IDENTITY OR DISABILITY

And a chicken and the egg scenario just occurred to me.  Simply put:

Stem cells are the body’s natural healing system.  If you implant stem cells into the body, it will begin to repair itself.  It is the job of the stem cell to assist your body in functioning as well as it possibly can.  Dead tissue can begin to regenerate, new tissue can begin to develop, genetic anomalies can begin to correct, etc.  The stem cells and the body “know” what needs to be done or even, what needs to be fixed.  We can force them to do ‘x’ but eventually they will go fix ‘y.’

So if stem cells ‘fix’ something, that means (at the very least) that the stem cells and your body believed it needed ‘fixing.’  So in the simplest of terms and the broadest of definitions, if stem cells fix Autism, was it not because it needed to be fixed?  I don’t know.  I’m asking.  Maybe you have a different view.  If you do, I’d love to hear it.

p.s. A “friend” noted that cure is perhaps not the best term to use and I agree.  We do need a new set of words. Both for that reason and because we need to start seeing people as people and not as patients and definitely not as diseases.

Further, when I eat well it is not to cure, when I go to the gym it is not to cure, when I meditate or do yoga it is not to cure. All of these things are to maximize my life, my health, my soundness of body and mind, my time on this earth, not to cure. Part of the issue is that Western medicine treats illnesses not people…wait until someone is sick and then try to fix what’s wrong with them with zero ‘cures’ since Polio 1954.   A pretty backward way of thinking.  Eastern medicine prevents disease as a by product of the efforts taken to maximize one’s health, vitality and life. We could learn a lot from this attitude.

Dedicated to the amazing women (and men) who are doing everything in their power to heal their children…

Do not confuse them for a distracted and solitary parent sitting alone in a dark corner on a laptop, sipping a spritzer and dangling a toe into stem cell treatments.

These are parents who are researching for years, they network and talk to everyone they can get their hands on, they create pages and sites and media campaigns, they compare data with each other and they do it better than a super computer, more relentlessly than a pit-bull and they do not give up and do not surrender.

They are intense and even fanatical researchers with passion, drive, motivation, education and intelligence and they are going to change the entire stem cell industry from the inside out.  You can love them or hate them but do NOT get in their way.  They are blind to bureaucracy, oblivious to obstacles and dismissive of despair.  Their engines run on the nova hot burning jet fuel of a parent’s love for their child, they wield weapons built on research and science and wear impervious suits of armor forged in hope.

They are stem cell moms and they are organized and aggressive and nothing will stand in their way.

They are…

Brownback signs into law bill establishing adult stem cell research and treatment at KU Medical Center

Topeka — In a mix of science and anti-abortion politics, Gov. Sam Brownback on Monday signed into law a bill that establishes the nation’s first adult stem cell research and treatment center at the Kansas University Medical Center.

“I am honored to sign this bill of hope and promise and current treatments,” Brownback said.

Brownback described adult stem cell and umbilical cord blood research as an “exploding” area of new discoveries to treat people with a wide range of diseases. “KU will be the leader, Kansas will be the leader, which is fabulous in this burgeoning field,” he said.

But the bill carried political overtones.

It was sponsored by vehement abortion opponents and pushed by the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian lobbying group.

In addition, KU never asked for the legislation establishing what will be known as the Midwest Stem Cell Center, and the Legislature has yet to produce the estimated $1.1 million needed for the center’s startup.

Dr. Buddhadeb Dawn, director of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at KU Medical Center, on Monday speaks during Gov. Sam Brownback’s bill-signing ceremony on legislation establishing the Midwest Stem Adult Stem Cell Center.  The center will be charged with working on adult stem cell, cord blood and related stem cell research, providing therapies to patients and serving as a clearinghouse for physicians on cutting-edge treatments.  The center is prohibited from using embryonic stem cells or cells taken from aborted fetal tissue.  Abortion opponents oppose human embryonic stem cell research because it involves the destruction of the embryo.

Dr. Buddhadeb Dawn, director of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at KU Medical Center, was the only KU representative on hand at the bill-signing ceremony. He said the number of clinical trials of bone marrow stem cells for treatment of heart disease had been increasing tremendously over the past several years.

“It would be great to bring such therapies to Kansas, and the formation of such a center which would engage in adult stem cell therapy in patients would give Kansans the chance to be enrolled in such therapy and perhaps give treatment that would change their life,” he said.

David Prentice, senior fellow for life sciences at the Family Research Council, said the center “puts Kansas in a leadership position.”

State Sen. Mary Pilcher Cook, R-Shawnee, who carried the bill in the Legislature said she would push for funding the center when the Legislature returns May 8 for the wrap-up session.

“That’s all under discussion right now,” she said.

At the bill-signing ceremony, several people who have survived diseases spoke about their treatments and how they believed the new center would expand the availability of treatments for others.

Mary Rusco, of Wichita, said she received stem cells from an umbilical cord.

“I have been cancer free for four years now, and as far as I’m concerned I’m cured. I really appreciate the fact that Kansas is doing this so that other people can have access to this opportunity,” she said.

Terry Killman, of Independence, received a bone marrow transplant from his brother.

“This bill will make it that much better for more people to have the opportunity that I’ve had to live,” he said.
