Hi,
My daughter was diagnosed to have ASD last Feb 2009. It was shattering of course to learn that my youngest (I have 3 daughters), would have such disorder. The realization of what the future of my daughter would be was such an agony…
I had to quit my job (worked for almost 10 years in the company) and take on this challenge as a mother…I was ridiculed for my decision to stop working – but I don’t care. I know that my child needs me, I had served the company too well, that I have failed to notice that there was something wrong with my daughter…
Coming from a third-world country, where even the commonest of diseases are not given attention, my resources of understanding my daughter’s ordeal is quite a feat…I have consulted numerous websites about ASD awareness and support groups…until I came to the impression that there was really no hope for my daughter…that I just have to accept the fact that she will have to live like that all her life, that although she may improve, her way of thinking will always be the same…I am not about how difficult it will be for me, it was all about how difficult will it be for my daughter, especially if I will not be around anymore for her…
At the moment, my daughter is undergoing occupational therapy, speech therapy and SPED. She just turned four last month. I can safely say she has improved a lot, but the development is never consistent.
Your website really sparked that dying hope in my heart…I know that it is a long shot…but at least my child still gets a chance…and never for the life of me will I pass up that chance for her…I will fight for that, keep aiming for that, even beg for that chance for my child to have a better life…
Most gratefully yours,
ROMA SIA
